Innovative technologies of treatment of juvenile (childhood) rheumatoid arthritis in the 4th city children's hospital helped to raise the legs of bedridden patients.

— A new method treatment of a biological preparation, obtained genetically engineered way gives a dramatic effect! — said the head of the rheumatology Department of the 4th city children's clinical hospital, Professor of Pediatrics of the Belarusian medical Academy of post-graduate education Irina czyzewska. Even after a single infusion (infusion), one of our patient, do not get out of bed, got up the next day. Not ran, but walked. Biotherapy is used to completely cancel the "hormones" and move the chronic disease into remission (no relapse). How long will this last? Nobody in the world will answer. But most importantly, the child receives a margin of safety.

Today, the hospital treated 35 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Successfully. Most of them abolished the hormonal drugs that slow down the growth and giving quite a lot of side effects. The boys are back in kindergartens and schools. And, very importantly, almost all stretched. The fact that children with rheumatoid arthritis is characterized by the stunting of their peers.

— The treatment is very expensive, one patients the drugs were purchased through the budget, others acquired sponsors, — said I. kijewska. — In the world practice this biotherapy is also used within two years after achieving sustained remission.

Intravenous infusion only do in the hospital — once in two weeks. Rheumatoid arthritis — an autoimmune disease. Procedure involves effects on the immune system and therefore should be under close clinical and laboratory monitoring. In the clinic it will not be able to provide.

Specialist said: in Belarus from 572 children with a similar diagnosis, biological therapy, need only 10 % (and worldwide) — those who do not makes it a traditional treatment. And all the sick guys get it. By and large this is a breakthrough in the Belarusian children's rheumatology.

— Thanks to a new technique for some of our patients the disease is not exacerbated in the past two years. They come to us for control tests, — stated I. kijewska. In the future I hope that our children will be left without effective drugs. Perhaps there will be Belarusian counterparts. Not necessarily be able to produce a cure, it can only be produced. Even under this option, the cost will decrease.

Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis — diagnosis, which is established from the first days of life. Very often the parents of the children complaining of joint pain, impaired mobility, refer to paediatricians, surgeons. And then the young patients come to the rheumatology.

The disease is very difficult to treat. For this worldwide, including in Belarus, are used several groups of drugs: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants and biological agents, obtained by genetic engineering.
